Read: Colossians 3:12-17
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. Colossians 3:12 KJV
We all know that what we wear is important.
Each day we think about what our agenda is.
We look at what the weather is looking like for the day.
Mentally thinking about what outfit is best suited for the day.
There will always be a desire to look our best.
But we also want to make sure we are prepared for what the day may bring.
When we feel that we are prepared, our days are filled with more energy and confidence.
Our Savior cares about what we wear.
He knows our outward appearance has an effect on others.
But He is more concerned about what we put on spiritually.
It has a greater meaning to our appearance.
To “put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering” (Colossians 3:12 KJV).
It shows that we are wearing a wardrobe created by God, the Maker of all things.
Because it is His desire for all to live in mutual love, forbearance, and forgiveness.
Doing no hurt to any, no matter what the forecast for the day is.
But doing what is good to all that we can.
That by doing these things, it not only allows us to do His will, but to give the best of ourselves.
We will deal properly with the situations that arise in our lives.
Our friendships will be strengthened.
We will have the good feelings that comes with knowing that we are pleasing the Lord.
The likeness of Christ in our lives is never out of style.
No matter how much the world changes, it will always be what we need.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, You see what is in our hearts. There is nothing hid from You. Help us to remember that what others see on the outside means nothing if they do not see what is in our hearts. They need to see the same mutual love, forbearance, and forgiveness that You have shown us. We know that the styles in life are always changing. Help us to live the kind of life that is loving, kind and true. We know that the styles in life are always changing. But Your Word always remains the same.
