But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22 KJV
Why is it so difficult to put Christian faith into action?
It really is not.
Think about it.
The Lord has a message for each of us every day.
A Word that is to be well received.
But so many of us are hearers only.
We have the feeling that it is enough for us to simply know God’s truth in our heads.
We feel that it is enough that we attend church services and read the Bible.
We could even hear a sermon preached every day of the week.
Someone could say something that brings to light something we heard.
Yet we forget that it does not stop there.
There is more to what He is telling us.
The Father has told us, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
That we are to put into action that which we have heard.
Because when we fail to live by the Word, we are only deceiving ourselves. (James 1:22 KJV).
It is not too late to begin doing as He has said.
Starting now, let us exhibit the Word of truth everywhere we go.
Showing others that we know what it means to live according to the Word.
Always remembering that because of God’s strength and our obedience to Him the more we are blessed.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us to heed Your Word. Help us to fight off anything that goes against what You have told us. To stop thinking that all we need to do is read or hear the Word. We want to be obedient in every way. And we know that it will only happen when we let the Scriptures take the lead in our lives and do what it says. Thank You for reminding us that we need to be doers and not just hearers of Your Word.
