Today’s Reading: Mark 4:33-41
Today’s Verse: And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? Mark 4:40 KJV
Many of us have read or heard the story of how the Savior stilled the tempest in Mark 4:35-41 KJV.
This passage describes the lesson learned by the disciples regrading who Jesus is and what He can do.
That while they were desperately trying to save a sinking boat, Jesus was in “the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow.”
The disciples were so afraid that “they [woke Jesus] and [said] unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:38 KJV).
“[Jesus] arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 KJV).
The Savior then asked the disciples a question.
“He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” (Mark 4:40 KJV).
The disciples became even more afraid.
They “said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:41 KJV).
Never forget that sometimes things happen to test our faith.
We all can put ourselves in this story. Discovering just as the disciples did, that every person who trusts in the Savior, He will reveal His presence.
He will show us compassion.
Reminding us that He will never leave or forsake us.
He never comes short of His Word.
He is our safe dwelling place during any storm we face in life.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there will be times when the storms are raging in our lives. We will find it hard to tell the night from day. Those are the times we must find hope in You. You are the One who can bring peace to our lives. The winds and the waves must obey Your will. You promised to keep us and never to leave us. We know You never fall short of Your Word. You are our strength and our Provider. May we continue to grow in faith. Thank You for always being there for us. We are truly thankful.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
