God speaks to us in many ways and we need to listen carefully, taking to heart everything He is saying to us. Not letting sin impair our thinking and cause us to stray.
The Ten Commandments are the law.
It is spiritual. Showing the knowledge of the secret thoughts, desires, and dispositions of the hearts of man.
Directing us to the need for love and obedience.
In this verse He is telling us to honor our parents.
We are to show great esteem to them, which is shown in our conduct and obedience to their lawful commands. Listening to their counsels and corrections.
We should endeavor to comfort them and to make their old age quiet, content and happy.
It is said that obedience brings about self-discipline, which in turn brings about stability and longevity in one’s life.
Grant it some very obedient Christians may leave us early, but they were still living according to the Word.
Giving their parents the needed support, which our Saviour has directed us to do.
When we live right, it not only pleases God, but adds years to our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, to add years to our lives, may we get rid of the bad habits and multiply the good ones. Living according to Your Commands. Let us live long and well, not short and in vain. Thank You Lord for our parents and the ability to show them love, honor and respect.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
