Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 7:11-17 / 2 Chronicles 12:1-12
Today’s Verse: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
During our Christian walk there are many things we desire to do.
There is a Divine calling on our lives.
We pray about it but still have a problem with taking the steps required.
We have other fellow worshippers who know about it. They try to encourage us to take this walk of faith. Praying and cheering us on. Letting us know they will be there to help us.
But we still struggle with taking this leap in faith.
Finally, after much praying and finally after much encouragement, we decide to take the step to try.
We do what the Father has called us to do, and we are successful.
There is much rejoicing when we achieve what we are called to do.
It is a beautiful picture of our discipleship.
God desires humility from all of us.
In the Bible, humble refers to a state of meekness and lowliness. It is characterized by a modest view of one’s own importance. It is a recognition of one’s dependence on God.
To be humble is not a lack of confidence or self-worth. It is a lowly nature that values others above oneself and submits to God’s will.
In this passage, Solomon did what the Father instructed him to do. He submitted to God’s will.
He “finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected” (2 Chronicles 7:11 KJV).
He prayed to the Lord.
“The Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice” (2 Chronicles 12:12 KJV).
God answered his prayer.
Because of his desire to please the Lord, he received a blessing.
That is why our Savior has told us, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).
The mercies of God to sinners are made known in a manner well suited to impress all who receive them. Especially when they receive Him with His Majesty and Holiness.
We should always worship and praise Him.
When God manifests Himself as a consuming Fire to sinners, we have every reason to rejoice in Him as our Light.
It is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed. For which we should be very thankful.
Solomon was successful because he made beautiful both God’s house and his own.
When we begin with the service of God, we are likely to go on successfully in our own affairs.
It was Solomon’s praise, and by the grace of God that he prospered in it.
Let us stand in amazement, and sin not.
Let us fear the Lord’s displeasure. Let us find hope in His mercy. Let us walk in His commandments.
We will never learn anything until we first learn to humble ourselves.
Let us all take the time to pray. Take the time to seek His face. Take the time to let nothing keep us from acknowledging the call He has on our lives.
Happily receiving the blessings He has for us all.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, all our encouragement comes from You. Your meekness and humility is what we desired to be manifested in our lives. Teach us to walk humbly and complete all the tasks that come our way. Never forgetting that You would never put more on us than we can bare. You are always with us. Thank You for forgiving us our sins. Thank You for letting us be a part of telling others about Your loving grace. We want to be called by Your Name. We want to have a reason to celebrate when we are done. Humble is howe we will live.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
