Today’s Reading: Hebrews 4:11-16
Today’s Verse: Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Hebrews 4:14 KJV
There are times when we wonder how it is that some people face life’s hardships with confidence and boldness.
We wonder why some find themselves worrying. Leading to times of doubt and fears of failure.
We know that one reason is that many of us have a restricted view of who Jesus is.
We know Him as the Bread of Life. We know Him as the Living Water.
But how many of us truly know Him as our Great High Priest?
The Scriptures have told us that “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest (Hebrews 2:17 KJV).
The Scriptures also tell us that, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15 KJV).
When we allow Jesus to become a part of our lives, He experiences our pain, hurt, and guilt right along with us.
There will always be a time when we will be totally misunderstood.
We did our best and gave it our all.
Think about this.
Was anybody more misunderstood than Jesus?
Jesus personally knew this kind of pain.
Has somebody you loved ever said no, shut the door and walked away from you?
Wondering if Jesus ever felt such pain and rejection. The answer would be Yes, He did.
He was treated with a great lack of respect by His own people.
We often wonder, Does Jesus, the sinless One, really understand our feelings of guild?
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6 KJV).
The Father laid all the sins of the world on Jesus. He bore them all.
No matter what we are facing, the Savior identifies with our circumstance.
“We have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession” (Hebrews 4:14 KJV).
He knows about every sin we face.
He feels every single fear or pain that we will ever face in life.
Let us keep the Word in our heads.
Keep its enlivening principles in our hearts.
Openly profess it with our lips.
Holding fast the doctrines of Christian faith.
Making it where the “Great High Priest” is the subject in our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know You sent Jesus in the likeness of flesh. That He bore the sins of us all. He is the Great High Priest that brings courage to us all. His sacrifice makes it possible to receive Your mercy and grace. To receive the pardoning of all our sins. Giving us a chance to purify our souls. We daily depend on You as we make this journey through life. All-knowing You are. Thank You allowing us to come boldly to Your throne of mercy and grace.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
