Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 29:8-14
Today’s Verse: Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV
As believers, we know where all our help comes from. All our help comes from the Lord. He is the creator of everything (Psalms 121:2 KJV).
All things belong to Him.
His watchful care over us lets us know that He is there for us.
That is why we must declare His supreme power and authority. Acknowledging that all things belong to Him.
“Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all” (1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV).
This verse is part of a prayer offered by King David. He said it to the people as he prepared to transfer leadership to his son, Solomon.
The people had just made generous offerings. They did it for the construction of the temple.
David’s prayer acknowledged their offering.
But the riches of Christ exceeded the splendor of the temple.
That is why David’s prayer gave solemn thanks to the Lord.
His words were a reminder to the people that God is the ultimate source of all things.
It was a prayer of thanksgiving to God. Acknowledging that they were grateful for His trust in helping to build the kingdom. To help maintain it.
We have been made stewards over things since the days of Genesis.
We have been trusted with the care and management of God’s creations and resources (Genesis 1:28; 1 Peter 4:10; Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 16:1-13 KJV).
To this day, we are to declare the awesome power of God.
Remembering what David prayed regarding God.
Greatness, Power, Glory, Victory, and Majesty. Words that speak to God’s supreme abilities. They are always great and what we need.
“For all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine.” Declares that He has ownership and control over everything that exists.
“Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.” God has absolute rule and dominion. He is in the position of power and authority.
He is our Divine Leader. Our faithful stewardship is important.
All things belong to Him. He only wants the best for us all.
Give Him praise for all the things He has done. All the things He will continue to do in our lives.
“Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you” (Philippians 4:9 KJV).
There is no greater love than the love He has for us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
God, You are the owner and creator of all things. Everything belongs to You. Help us to be great stewards over everything You have entrusted us with. From the rise of the sun, to going won of the same, You are worthy to be praised. Thank You for everything You have done. You are exalted as head above all.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
