Know Yourself

Read: Romans 14:7-13

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Romans 14:10 KJV

We have all heard the phrase, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Outward appearances are not always reliable.

They don’t always show the true character of someone or something.

Just like no one may know what we are going through, the same holds true when we look at others.

There is a need to stay focused on the direction in life we all are taking.

We don’t want to be the one to say something that causes someone to stumble.

The Lord has told us that we are not to stand in judgment of one another.

Remembering that one day we all must stand before Him and be judged.

That He is the only one who can make the final judgement call on what we have done in our lifetime.

Everyone must continue to head in the right direction.

We do this by following the principles in God’s Word.

He has always instructed us to do this.

Paul even acknowledged that we are headed toward an appointment with God,

That before Him we must give an account for all our actions (vv. 10-12).

It is easy to be sidetracked by sin.

When the feeling to judge someone tries to surface, rebuke it.

Never letting it be a stumbling block to us and others.

The true meaning of our lives is not to please ourselves, but to please God.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we all have our different strengths and abilities. Let us search our own hearts and lives. Humbling ourselves so we don’t sit in judgment of one another. We want to do things according to Your Word and at the day of judgment hear You say, “Well Done.”

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
