Comfort: A Wonderful Love Gift Given to All Believers

Today’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:3-11

Today’s Verse: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3 KJV

We all know that when someone is going through something in life, we desire to express love and concern for them.

This is truly seen when there is the loss of a loved one.

We lean on the Word. It is our main source for comfort and guidance.

Paul was an Apostle of Jesus Christ.

He said, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3 KJV).

This tells us that our Heavenly Father is the ultimate source of every tender mercy and every kind word that we speak.

That loving concern is something that brings encouragement and healing.

The Greek word, paraklesis, translated “comfort” means “a calling to one’s side.”

In today’s reading the words comfort and consolation appear quite often.

They remind us that the Lord holds us close and invites us to cling to Him.

That we are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace.

A throne in which we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

He gives peace to the troubled conscience. He calms the raging passions of the soul.

As we go through life, may we never forget that the Lord is always wrapping His loving arms around us.

He comforts “us in all our tribulation.”

He speaks peace to our souls by granting the free remission of sins.

He comforts us by the enlivening influences of the Holy Spirit. By all the rich mercies of His grace.

Giving us the ability to embrace others “which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God” (2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV).

There is so much to say about the Lord and how He comforts us.

It is good to know that all comforts come from God.

All our sweetest comforts are in Him.

Blessed to be a blessing.

God comforts us so that we can comfort others.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we can always share with You our worries and cares. We are grateful that You are always there to comfort and guide us. That our past experiences encourage faith and hope. The favor You grant us not only make us cheerful, but they also help us to be useful to others. The more we stay rooted in the Word, our prayers, praise, and thanksgiving will keep our lives filled with joy. Thank You for being our Comforter and our Guide.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
