Your Great Destiny – Always Choosing the Best Life Path

Today’s Reading: Joshua 24:15-28

Today’s Verse: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15 KJV

Serious decisions. We all have to make them at some point in our lives.

We have to consider the pros and cons of each option. We may even have to seek input from trusted individuals.

We then have to plan for doing our chosen course of action.

In the end, we have to review our decision and its consequences. Learning and improving for future decisions.

We want the end result of anything we do to be good.

In our Christian walk, we daily have to make some serious decisions. We have to clearly define all our options.

In this passage, Joshua is making a final address to the people of Israel. He is challenging them to decide whether to serve the Lord or other gods.

He said, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15 KJV).

Joshua was declaring that regardless of their choice, he and his household will serve the Lord.

He is letting the people know that serving the Lord is a choice. Not a forced action. That depending on the choice they make will determine their situation as they are about to enter the Promised land.

That is why Joshua made it known for his unwavering commitment to serving the Lord. He was trying to set an example for the Israelites.

The choice is ours. Serving the Lord is an active choice. It is an ongoing commitment.

Love is the only genuine principle whence all acceptable service of God can spring.

The Father seeks only such to worship Him. To worship Him in spirit and in truth.

The carnal mind of man is enmity against God. It is not capable of such spiritual worship.

Showing the necessity of being born again. To dedicate our lives to Him.

Make the right choice and “choose you this day whom ye will serve.”

Choose you this day to serve the Lord.

It is the greatest choice ever to make.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father God, we know that each day we have a choice to make. We want to choose the right way to handle all things, we know it is essential that our service to You is performed with a willing mind. Like the Israelites, let us agree with Joshua and be influenced by the example of a man who had been so great a blessing to them. A good example of letting nothing take the place of You in our lives. We also will say, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Thank You for all the love and guidance You give.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
