he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? John 5:6 KJV
We all have our feelings of expectation and desire for certain things to happen in our lives.
It may have even been a long time ago that we set our minds to try to do something with them.
Someone close to us may ask a question regarding our situation or expectation that seems like a snide remark, especially depending on how it is asked.
If the person is truly sincere about your well-being, then it is asked to find out how serious you are in wanting to accomplish your goals.
What you are willing to do to accomplish it.
In this passage the Lord is teaching us to be careful, that we let not a season slip which may never return.
For thirty-eight years this man had lost the use of his limbs.
Christ singled him out from the rest.
He knew the man wanted to get well.
He also knew it had been a long time since anyone had offered him any assistance.
But before the Divine Miracle would occur, the Savior’s intent was to restore the hope that he had long since lost.
That is why He asked the question and gave him a chance to respond.
Our Lord Jesus cures him, though he neither asked nor thought of it.
Just like this man, who couldn’t walk, each of us have had our times when all hope was lost.
The Lord sees us and with sincere compassions invites us to believe in Him and restore our hope.
“Wilt thou be made whole?”
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, there are places in our lives where we have lost hope. We know that You are there for us, if we believe. The proof of our spiritual cure is evident when we trust, rise and walk according to Your Word. Thank You for restoring the joy of hope.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
