Forgiveness: A Valuable Gift That Should Never Be Forgotten

Today’s Reading: Luke 17:1-10

Today’s Verse: And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Luke 17:4 KJV

As Christians, the Bible gives us the guidance we need.

Wisdom concerning everything we face in life.

Things we should not do to one another.

Passages that remind us that God overlooked our faults. That He saw our needs (Isaih 64:6 KJV).

Forgiveness was one of those needs.

Jesus is our main source of forgiveness.

Throughout His life, He forgave those who refused to receive the Word.

Even on the cross, He forgave all who called Him in faith.

To this day, He shows us grace, forgiveness, and Divine Love.

As followers of Christ we are to have a spirit of forgiveness.

The Lord has told us, “And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him” (Luke 17:4 KJV).

No matter the situation, if someone has done us wrong, if they ask for forgiveness we should forgive them.

Never forgetting how we once needed to be forgiven.

That we were thankful that they forgave us.

That when we confessed our sins to the Lord, we were forgiven.

As long as we live, we will always need to be able to forgive. To ask to be forgiven.

We can stand on the promise that, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 KJV).

There will always be a time when we struggle with forgiveness. But we can defeat it.

His Divine mercy makes it possible.

Forgiveness allows our relationship with the Lord to be restored.

It allows our relationship with others to be restored.

Be the living witness to what it means to really be forgiven.

Treating others with the same forgiveness that had been shown to us.

It is so rewarding.

That is what the Lord wants for our lives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that there will be times when know someone has done wrong to us. Times when we struggle to forgive and forget. But when someone truly comes to us and ask for forgiveness, let us be willing to forgive. Never forgetting that we all have done something not according to Your way. That when we asked for forgiveness, You were faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Forgiveness is a gift from You. Let us be the one to share it with others. Being willing to forgive. Thank You for forgiving us all the times we asked to be forgiven. All the times that You did.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
