Today’s Reading: Mark 5;1-10
Today’s Verse: Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. Mark 5:9 KJV
I was reading a devotional in which the writer talked about a time when he spoke to an individual about his doubts regarding the moral standards of the Bible.
He could tell that no matter what he said, the man remained in doubt.
So, he asked him a question. He asked him if he knew any cruel, greedy people. Ones who had become kind and unselfish when they became believers in Christ.
He did.
This man’s way of thinking changed quickly. He had to admit that he did know such people.
The writer could tell that the people in this man’s life were having a greater influence on him than he cared to admit.
Disciples for Christ will always encounter someone who has doubts about their faith.
The Word tells us, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15 KJV).
The man joyfully proclaimed what wonderful things Jesus had done for him.
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32 KJV).
Daily we can encounter someone who questions how believing in Christ has changed our lives.
We are living testimonies of His goodness.
Our Christlike character and conduct will always remain the strongest argument for our faith.
We must be prepared to give a reasonable answer to those who question our faith.
To be ready to proclaim it everywhere we go.
He has done wonderful things in our lives. From the saving of our souls to the healing of our bodies.
In today’s Scripture, the Savior is telling the once demon-possessed man to go home to his friends so they could see what He had done for him (Mark 5:19 KJV).
It is a blessing to be able to tell others about what Christ has done in our lives.
To be a living testimony of what He can do in their lives. Even in the lives of their friends and loved ones.
When you know Christ, be the one to tell others about Him too.
Again, I say, be the one to tell others about Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that there will be days when we meet someone who has trouble believing in Your saving grace. Some will want to hold a conversation that is filled with doubt. Give us the right words to say. Give us the best examples to use. With the best ones being about the wonderful changes You have made in our lives. Hoping they will see that You can make the changes needed in their lives too. Thank You Father for all the wonderful things the Lord has done in our lives.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
