I was reading a devotional and it mentioned a poem called “Gratefulness” by George Herbert.
He was a seventeenth century British poet.
These words speak exactly how we should feel regarding the Lord’s goodness toward us.
“Thou that hast given so much to me, give one thing more, a grateful heart.”
He realized that the only thing he needed in order to be thankful was simply an awareness of the blessings the Lord had already given him.
The Bible declares that the Lord is our source of all blessings.
All things in heaven and earth, especially those which relate to our salvation and to our peace, are all of Him.
We should never forget and remain aware of God’s blessings in our lives. Having a heart that acknowledges that He is the source of all our joy.
No matter where we begin, let giving God the glory, for all He has done, be the end.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, the opening of our eyes to the many blessings You have bestowed on us will help us to develop a heart of gratefulness. Increasing our relationship with You. That if we are of You and through You, we will be all that we need to be to You and for You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
