A Time To Speak

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Luke 1:17 KKJV

There have been great events in the Bible, in which our hopes are perfected by our understanding, through Divine inspiration.

Zacharias and Elisabeth were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.

They had no children, as Elisabeth was unable to conceive.

One day as Zacharias was performing his duties as a priest, lighting an incense at the alter before praying, he was approached by one of God’s angels, Gabriel.

He told him that they would bear a son, his name would be John and the works he would perform would be great in the eyes of the Lord.

Zacharias questioned how this could occur, because of their ages and his wife was barren.

Gabriel introduced himself and told Zacharias that he would become dumb, unable to speak, until the day that these things he had spoken would be performed.  All because he questioned his words. Words that would be fulfilled in their season, by the God.

They did conceive and bore a son.  When it came time to say what his name was to be, God allowed him to speak.

His name was John.

John the Baptist, as he was known, was instrumental in the conversion of many souls to God; preparing them to receive the gospel of Christ.

He spread the Word concerning Jesus with courage, zeal, holiness, and a mind dead to earthly interests and pleasures.

Just like Zacharias, even we, real believers of today, have moments when we dishonor God by unbelief; and our mouths are stopped in silence and confusion, when otherwise we should have been praising God with joy and gratitude.

All the prayers we offer up to God, are acceptable and successful only because of Christ’s intercession.

Prayers of faith are filed in Heaven, and not forgotten.

God has looked on us with compassion and favor, and therefore has thus dealt with us graciously. He is the Just One!

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we know the prayers we make when we are young and entering the world, may be answered when we are older. Thank You for sometimes causing us to be silent. Stopping the confusion we may be creating because of our unbelief and wrong way of thinking. Listening to those You have sent to spread the Word. Thank You for the blessings You give in answering our prayers.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
