When we tell a lie, we are speaking the devil’s language. The Lord has told us that Satan does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. That he is the father of lies (John 8:44).
That is why we are told, here in Proverbs, that “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD.”
We know as believers we should always tell the truth, but none of us can say we have not be guilty of lying. It is human nature and sometimes we feel it is necessary because of the situation.
For us to be a delight to the Lord, we must be conscience of truth, not only in our words, but in our actions.
The substance of our diligence, even though it’s not always great, does good when we live a life of truth and not lies.
The way of Truth is a straight, plain way. It is the way of righteousness.
A way of true comfort.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, the next time we are tempted to lie, let us ask ourselves, “Do we want to be like You, our Heavenly Father or like the father of lies, Satan?” The answer should be to be like You, and tell the truth. There is not only life at the end, but life along the way when we do it.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
