FEAR NOT

But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.  John 6:20 KJV

When I was growing up, my parents weren’t always home.

Like most parents, they had to work, but also had things they needed to take care of and it was easier to do it on their own.

The oldest sibling would be in charge and we had strict instructions not to open the door for anyone and to behave.

We knew what the consequences were if we didn’t.

We were given these instructions because they wanted to make sure we stayed safe and didn’t let the wrong person or persons enter our home, our life.

When we would hear the door opening, we waited to hear one of them say, “It’s us.  Where are y’all at?”  Then we knew everything was okay.

That’s how the disciples felt when they were out on the water heading for Capernaum, the winds began to blow, it was getting dark and the Lord was not with them.

They knew they were all alone and not sure what they were in for.

Out of nowhere, Jesus appeared, walking on the water and they were scared.

That’s when the Lord told them, “It is I; be not afraid.”

There are going to be times in our lives when we will feel all alone, like someone or something is trying to get to us.

That’s when we remember the Word and we hear that familiar voice, the voice of the Lord, that assures us that we will be fine and not to be afraid.

He is always there in our times of fear, trouble and uncertainties.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, although there are times when we have so much going on in our lives that we feel we are all alone.  We thank you for showing us that you are with us always.  There is nothing that you cannot bring us through. Thank you Lord.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen
