His Path Is Never Wrong

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. John 10:4 KJV

I was reading a devotional in which a man in Australia was arrested and accused of stealing a sheep. He told them it was his and it had been missing for some days.

The case went to court and the judge was not sure how he should decide in this matter. He finally decided to have the sheep brought in and instructed first the plaintiff and then the dependent to do the following.

The plaintiff was to step outside and call the sheep.  He called the sheep, but it did not respond, except to raise it’s head and appear frightened.

The defendant was then told to go to the courtyard and call the sheep.  He called the sheep like he normally would and it came running towards the door, because the voice was familiar. It was the voice of it’s master.

The parable of the Good Shepard, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, holds true, to this day

He is the Shepard and we are the sheep in His pasture.

We will be exposed to deceivers but no matter how much we stray, we should hear His voice and come running back to Him.

Never forgetting that as the sheep of Christ we must remain steadfast in the Word. Being cautious of strangers, who would draw us from our faith in Him.

The Lord guards us by His providence, guides us by His Spirit and Word, and goes before us every step of the way.

He will never lead us in the wrong direction.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we know that we sometimes go astray.  Are led in wrong directions.  We are thankful that You still call out to us and give us an opportunity to hear Your voice and come running back to You. When we have faith in our hearts, we will find all that the Scripture says of You is true and we will follow You.  Sheep following a Good Shepard.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
