This Wonderful Friendship Means You Are Never Forgotten

Today’s Reading: Hebrews 13:1-6 / 1 Samuel 20:35-42

Today’s Verse: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5 KJV

A friend is someone whom we know and in whom we have a bond of mutual affection.

We share in each other’s joys and each other’s failures.

Acknowledging that we are far from perfect.

That we will have our struggles.

But also taking great strides to rejoice in each other’s success.

David and Jonathan is just one example.

They had a solid friendship.

It began with the good days of David’s victory over Goliath (1 Samuel 18:1-4 KJV).

They shared their fears during the times when Jonathan’s father was jealous (1 Samuel 18:6-11, 26:1-2 KJV).

They even suffered together during the threatening days of Saul’s plans to kill David (1 Samuel 20:42 KJV).

Like any good friend, they were there for each other.

Good friends do not abandon each other when external circumstances change.

They stay together through the good and the bad days.

They point each other to God.

Praying that the tempting feeling to let the situation get the better of them does not happen.

The Savior has told us, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20 KJV).

When we put our trust in Him, all things will work together for our good.

May we never forget that real friendships are a gift from God.

The Savior is our Forever Friend.

The One who “will never leave [us], nor forsake [us]” (Hebrews 13:5 KJV).

The One who remains loyal no matter what we are going through.

What a friend we have in Jesus.

The more we build a relationship with Him, the stronger our friendships with one another will be.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, good friends can sometimes be hard to find. But when we do find one, we are thankful for them. It is a blessing to know we have someone we can depend on in our lives. But it is an even greater blessing to know that no matter who may come or go in our lives, You are a Forever Friend. That You will always be there for us. We are thankful for Your friendship.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
