Today’s Reading: Matthew 7:7-11
Today’s Verse: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7 KJV
Prayer is our means for communicating with God. Our way of asking for what we need. Our way of expressing our feelings. Our way of seeking wisdom.
Today’s passage was part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Our invitations to go to God in prayer.
He was telling the listeners about the importance of actively searching for something. To constantly seek something such as God’s wisdom. To seek His presence.
He told them that God was generous. That He is a Father that desires to provide for His children. That He wants to respond to all who earnestly seek Him.
We can express a range of emotions like love and gratitude. We can express our desires and fears. We can even acknowledge God’s supreme power.
Prayer is a way to ask for guidance and forgiveness. We give thanks and praise. We seek strength to overcome temptation. Strength to live according to His will.
Prayer helps to deepen our relationship with God. To allow His power to work in the world.
In the Book of Luke we read, “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1 KJV).
As believers we must remain constant in our prayer life. Our communication with the Lord is important.
We are not to lose heart. We stay optimistic during challenges. When we feel like He is not going to respond to our prayer, our faith remains strong.
Prayers really do change things.
Let us be serious and earnest in it.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, praying to You is important. When we do, we show a genuine trust and belief in You. In Your ability and willingness to answer our prayers. We are thankful that we can have a genuine relationship with You. That we can ask for anything and find what we seek for. Your door is always open. Thank You that our relationship will continue to grow. Thank You for always hearing and responding to our prayers. Your timing is always perfect. Thank You.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
