Read: James 2:8-13
So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12 KJV
A chain is something that is used to fasten or secure something.
The length varies based on how many links are needed.
It does not matter if the links are used to secure a necklace or a hanging lamp.
It only takes the breaking of one to cause it to fall.
That is how it is with the Ten Commandments God spoke to Moses (Exodus 20:1-17 KJV).
A chain said to be the law of Moses.
To break one makes us guilty of all.
In this passage, James was making sure the people understood the need to “fulfil the royal law according to the scripture” (James 2:8 KJV).
He told them, “So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty” (James 2:12 KJV).
The law of liberty is a new chain in which Christ fulfilled the old law and paid the price for our sins.
The law of liberty has the redemptive power in freeing believers from the bondage of sin.
A power that frees us to righteous obedience (John 8:34-36 KJV).
It allows all of us to serve God not out of fear or a mere sense of duty, but out of gratitude and love.
The Word of God gives us the instructions we need regarding living a righteous life.
The Holy Spirit helps us to fulfill the important moral principles of the Ten Commandments.
To understand what the law of liberty really means for our lives.
When we put our trust in the Lord, we are forgiven for all the links we have broken.
To grow stronger in the Word.
To change our ways.
Our lives are so much better.
It is good to know that they can be repaired.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that the laws You have ordained are for our good. They were written so sin would not keep control in our lives. Putting us in positions that are harmful to our lives. Let the chains of sin be broken, but our chains with You strong. We want to be bound by Your love. Living and acting according to Your Word.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
