How to Face Battles: God Gives Victory in Life

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:14-19

Today’s Verse: And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV

“Battle” means to engage in combat between individuals or armed forces. There is an open struggle to fight for control.

The Bible defines “battle” as a military engagement between individuals or armies. There are many passages that speak about how they would be fought. Showing that Divine activity is more important than the strength of the soldiers.

In this passage, King Jehoshaphat was leading the people of Judah. They were facing a massive invasion from a large enemy army.

They did not panic or prepare for the fight.

Instead, the prophet Jahaziel delivered a message from the Lord to the king and the people.

The message told them not to be afraid. That the battle would not be theirs to fight. It belonged to God.

That God would fight for them. All they had to do was stand still and see His salvation.

To see Him work a mighty work over the enemy.

“Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV).

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you” (2 Chronicles 20:17 KJV).

To this day, these verses can be applied to the various challenges we face in life.

The battle is not yours. The Lord is the only one who can fight it.

He wants to use us as the vessel to be open to Him.

It is our reminder that we are to surrender our problems to God. We are to trust in His power. We are to stay strong in faith.

Keep trusting in God to fight them. Knowing that He will bring victory when we are not able to.
