God of Grace – Great Power to be Made Perfect

Today’s Reading: 1 Peter 5

Today’s Verse: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Peter 5:10 KJV

All solid peace is founded on Christ, and flows from Him.

We are to increase in Christian love. Showing the care we have for one another. Offering support when it is needed most.

We used to sing this song in church. It still has great meaning. It still has the power to encourage.

“Hold on just a little while longer. Hold on just a little while longer. Hold on just a little while longer. Everything is going to be alright.”

Pray on just a little while longer. Pray on just a little while longer. Pray on just a little while longer. Everything is going to be alright.”

“Sing on just a little while longer. Sing on just a little while longer. Sing on just a little while longer. Everything is going to be alright.”

Our trials may seem long. But we have to keep faith. And keep holding on.

In this passage, the Apostle Peter wrote this letter to encourage leaders. To be a faithful shepherd to the people.

To advise all believers to remain humble. To keep a careful watch for possible danger. For all the difficulties that might come. They were to be mindful of the devil’s temptations.

In the end, he prays to the “God of all grace” for them.

Reminding them of His love and favor. That His ability to bless is always there. That He provides it to every believer.

He has told us, “After that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (1 Peter 5:10 KJV).

A little while of suffering means it is only temporary. It is through these experiences that God is preparing us to be more like Him. To give us what we need to face future challenges.

We go from human suffering to fulfilling His divine purposes. It is seen through miraculous events. Through acts of deliverance and guidance. Our Father is personally acting to fulfill His promises.

“Perfect” speaks to our progress towards perfection. We are not flawless or sinless. We are being fully developed. Trying to reach our spiritual maturity. To be without spot or blemish.

“Stablish” means that God is strengthening our hearts. Making our foundations solid. Confirming His promise to us.

“Strengthen” has respect to our growth in graces. Especially where we are weakest and lowest. Through God’s divine empowerment, we gain spiritual strength. A strength that allows us to endure any trials. We can overcome any obstacles. We make it because of our faith and trust in God’s unfailing power.

“Settle” signifies to fix upon a sure foundation. God will establish, strengthen, and settle us after we have suffered for a while. He will be our firm Foundation and Strength. Peace for all believers.

The outcome is a restored person. One who is strong and firm. One that is unshakeable in their faith.

We are ready to endure anything that comes our way. Ready to live in His never-ending glory.

Hold on, pray on, and sing on, just a little while longer. Trust and believe. Everything is going to be alright.

He said it in His Word. We know that His Word is true.

There will be a time of rejoicing. We must trust and believe.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know there will be times when we suffer. When we find ourselves in situations that make us feel bad. Times when we want to give up. Those are the times we have to remember that You are a God of all grace. That You are always there for us. That our suffering is only temporary. That all peace is founded in Christ. That it flows through Him. We are holding on to Your Word. Praying and singing songs of praise for the victories to come. Because greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. Thank You for being there for us in every situation we face in life. We know we are nothing without You.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
