Today’s Reading: Hebrews 10:19-25
Today’s Verse: “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)” Hebrews 10:22-23 KJV.
“Assurance” means to be certain and confident. That we are free from doubt.
The story behind the song “Blessed Assurance.” It is the tale of instant inspiration.
In 1873 the blind hymn writer, Fanny Crosby and composer Phoebe Knapp wrote this song. Knapp played a new tune on the piano. She then asked Fanny what it meant.
Fanny was filled with inspiration. She declared “Blessed assurance Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.”
This was just one verse. The hymn shows Fanny Crosby’s faith. It perfectly captures her unwavering trust in God. His presence and grace. That the Lord was there even in the face of life’s difficulties. It expresses joy, peace and the promise of eternal life.
Holy and sacred confidence. It means we have an unshakable certainty of truth. We know that Jesus is ours. That He is our Savior and Lord forever.
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)” Hebrews 10:22-23 KJV.
As believers we must consider how we can be of service to each other. Showing a more vigorous and abundant exercise of love to each other.
Being able to sing our song. Praising our Savior all the day long.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we thank You for the blessed assurance that You are ours. We are grateful to be an heir of salvation. To be purchased by You. To be born of Your Spirit. We pray for perfect submission and perfect delight in You. Thank You for letting us rest in Your goodness when our hearts are troubled. Let this be our song of praise. Forever watching, waiting, and filled with Your love.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
