Today’s Reading: 1 John 3:1-4
Today’s Verse: See what great lovem the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!n And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.1 John 3:1 NIV
Growing up, it was common for someone to ask, “Whose child are you?”
Biologically, it was a question regarding who our parents are. They wanted to know your family history.
Spiritually, it is seeking information regarding our relationship with God.
The Bible teaches us that God created all humans. He gave us an earthly home. He gave us parents that were loving and kind.
As we grow, we become “children of God” through our faith in Jesus Christ.
Trusting in the Word to understand the things in life.
Not letting anything bring us down. Things that would cause us to follow the ways of the devil and the world.
That our life is not about our biological history, but about our spiritual adoption. About our new identity.
Romans 8:14-17 KJV tells us that those who are led by the Spirit of God are His children. That we are not slaves to fear. That we are heirs to God’s promises. That His promises include eternal glory.
We are adopted into God’s family through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit confirms within us that we are children of God.
The Bible tells us, those who are God’s children do not continue in sin (1 John 3:9,10).
Our actions, as followers of Christ, should reflect God’s love and character.
We will live a life of righteousness. Showing love to our brothers and sisters. To all fellow believers.
We want to be known as followers of God. Not of the devil.
Children of God that walk by faith and live by hope.
His promises are sure.
Rich blessings are in store for us, while we yet live.
Heavenly blessings are ours when He calls us home.
Both are ours the more we learn to do His will. To live according to the Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we are glad we are Your children. Lead us, guide us, walk beside us. Helping us day by day to do Your will. Teaching us all that we must do to live in a way that is pleasing to You. Making You proud to call us as one of Your own. Thank You for all the rich blessings You give us. Thank You for Heavenly blessings to come. We cannot say it enough. We are so glad to be known as one of Your children.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
