Today’s Reading: Genesis 3:1-7
Today’s Verse: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. Genesis 3:2-3 KJV
Daily we have situations that challenge us.
Our faith in God’s goodness is evaluated.
It began in the days of Adam and Eve.
Pain and suffering resulted from their sins.
Sins that cloud our understanding of the Lord.
They can cause us to blame Him for every demanding situation we face.
We question why does the Lord not always relieve hardships?
Why will He not fix our problems, and give us what we want?
In this passage, we read how Eve listened to the serpent’s lies in the Garden of Eden.
Satan took advantage of Eve when he found her near the forbidden tree.
He tempted Eve, that by her he might tempt Adam. It worked.
Eve began to have doubts,
She did not think that the Lord had made the right choice in forbidding her to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 2:9/3:6 KJV).
She questioned why He would keep her from possessing wisdom and the enjoyment of food that looked so good.
It is his policy to send temptations by hands we do not suspect.
By those that have the most influence upon us.
Like Eve, there will be times when we do not agree with what our Father says is best for us.
We tend to see “good” to mean what is enjoyable, delightful, comfortable, or profitable.
But the Father has a much higher standard.
One that is always working to achieve His purpose.
One that will develop a Christlike character within each of us.
Know that behind every restriction or commandment the Lord gives is for our good.
They show how much He loves and cares for us.
He knows how sin takes a toll on our lives, both mentally and physically.
He wants to keep us from making choices that will wreck our lives.
Because when we choose not to do His will, we are choosing pain and trouble.
Eve learned through her disobedience that God knows what is best.
We have the same opportunity each day to discover His goodness.
We do it by listening to His voice, obeying His commands, and trusting in His wisdom.
Whatever may come our way, we know He is working for our good.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that Satan instructs us first to doubt, and then to deny You. He desires to make us think that You do not hear or care about what we are feeling. Satan is a liar. Let us resist him. Standing on Your promises. Knowing that when we do, he has no choice but to flee from us. Your Divine commands will always keep us from falling into sin and misery. Thank You for Your loving kindness and mercies.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
