Promising Life: When You Really Know This Divine Advocate

Today’s Reading: 1 John 1:8-2:2 KJV

Today’s Verse: My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2”1 KJV

A historic court case took place in 1963.

It was the case of Gideon versus Wainright.

The Supreme Court ruled that people who cannot afford the cost of their own defense must be given a public defender.

Someone provided to them by the state.

With the help of a court appointed lawyer, the defendant, Clarnece Gideon was retried and acquitted.

We all know there will be a time when we will be in the position of needing to be defended.

The Apostle Paul has told us that we all can be found guilty of something.

Sin has many ways of presenting itself in our lives.

Paul wrote, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2”1 KJV).

The Lord standing up for us is where our hope abides.

We are thankful that the courts of Heaven have someone to defend us.

The One who, at God’s expense, offers to defend and care for our soul.

“Not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2 KJV).

It is good to know that we have someone we can depend on in times of trouble.

No matter if we are suffering for wrongs done by us or to us.

Jesus is always there to represent us.

He responds to every request for mercy, forgiveness, and comfort.

He can turn any situation of lost hope, fear, or regret into one that is worthy of praise and rejoicing.

Let us take heed to what the Apostle Paul has told us.

The atonement of Christ is there to help us fight against sinful infirmities.

He is our support, and our protection.

He is also our Reformer.

He never stops trying to change us for the better.

The Lord is always there to defend us.

But let us take every opportunity to live a life free of sin.

We know it will be tough at times, but we can do it.

All things are possible when we have “Jesus Christ, the Righteous One” on our side.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we all can find ourselves in a place when we need defending. In all we do, let us put our best effort into doing things Your way. But when we do not, we are thankful for You being there to defend us. To help us get back on the right track. Helping us to know what it means to have the freedom of Your love and protection. You are the greatest Defender. Thank You for always being there for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
