Selected: Making the Best Choices in Life

Today’s Reading: Matthew 6:24-34

Today’s Verse: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24 KJV

There is no doubt that each of us love the idea of being well in our finances.

Money matters.

But money should not rule our decision-making process.

We can cause our lives to be filled with stress.

It does us no good to always make ourselves get up and get ready for work when we really dislike our job.

To stress over how we will make ends meet when we retire.

Those are the times when we have to make sure where our faith lies.

The Sermon on the Mount is known as one in which Jesus discussed money and our fondness for it.

He told us, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. [We] cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24 KJV).

He was telling us that above all things we are to pray about our situations.

Not asking for an abundance of riches but for “our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11 KJV).

Knowing that each day of our lives that the Lord is always able to provide.

That as we live by the Word all our needs are met.

He warned about our storing up treasures on earth.

He pointed out how the birds and flowers as evidence that God cares deeply about His creation (Matthew 6:19-31 KJV).

That is why we are to do as He says and “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33 KJV).

This is the way we keep from being worldly-minded.

Something that can cause us to find ourselves in a sinful state.

We are to take our tough times and big decisions as our opportunity to gain experience.

To grow in our faith.

Acknowledging that we trust and believe in the Word.

Being living testimonies that we know our Heavenly Father genuinely cares for us.

That He will supply all our needs.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, let us take this day to show thanks for the financial blessing You provide. How, even though we may desire more financially, the position we hold may not bring us joy. We will be happier in the position You have placed us. Always knowing that You will supply us with everything we need. Help us to stand fast in the Word as we make these decisions. Knowing that we grow in faith the more we trust in You. Thank You for loving and caring for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
