Today’s Reading: Matthew 7:21-29
Today’s Verse: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock Matthew 7:24 KJV
While constructing a building, the foundation is important. It has to be able to withstand great pressure.
It has to be strong. A base that is stable and dependable. Something that is not easily shaken or moved.
Something upon which they can build with confidence.
Today’s parable teaches us to hear and do the sayings of the Lord Jesus.
It is used to describe those who listen to and obey Jesus’ teachings. How they are like a wise person building their house on solid rock.
It describes how we will be able to stand every day. Especially in times of storms and other difficulties.
Some may seem hard to flesh and blood, but we know with the Lord on our side they can be done. He is our Solid Rock.
Because those that do not obey are like a foolish person building on sand, which will fall.
Christ is laid for a foundation, and everything besides Christ is sand.
Be ready.
There is a storm coming that will try every man’s work.
We are told, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24 KJV).
That is why it is important for us to build our lives on the foundation of Jesus’s teachings. His Words helps us survive through the trials and challenges of life.
David even acknowledged that “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower” (Psalms 18:2 KJV).
Throughout the Bible many were surprised at the wisdom received. At the power of Christ’s doctrine.
He is a solid foundation. One that is guaranteed to last.
A building for life. One that will withstand the storms of life. The One that will stand through any challenge.
May the Lord make us doers of the word, and not hearers only.
Wise builders for eternity. Daily living according to the Word.
Then nothing shall separate us from His love.
We will say, on Christ the Solid Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.
Christ is the foundation. How we live our lives will determine if what we build will last.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know You are the Rock of our salvation. That the multitudes were astonished at the wisdom and power of Your doctrine. It is a sure foundation. Every word proves You to be Divine. May we let Your graces be something that we remember daily. You are the Rock of our salvation. We want the wisdom You bring to our lives. The more we stand on the Word, our lives can only get better.
