Today’s Reading: Psalms 119:161-168
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
Psalms 119:162 KJV
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. Psalms 119:162 KJV
A valuable possession is something that is highly valued by its owner.
It can be land, jewelry, a family heirloom, or a rare collectable.
Its value can be based on emotional attachments, beliefs, or culture.
Most times it has a monetary value.
In this passage, the psalmist wrote of a treasure.
One that was more valuable than anything a person could accumulate.
He said, “I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil” (Psalms 119:162 KJV).
He knew that what God said in His Word had greater meaning.
All throughout Psalms 119, David is showing that he knew how valuable God’s instructions are to our lives.
He was taking the time to compare worldly treasures to the great treasure that comes to those who are victorious in Christ.
David’s words can sometimes give us feelings of fear and surprise.
There are so many things that he went through.
Things that none of us wish to face.
Some that we already have.
David spoke of his troubles.
Knowing that God would hear him.
Knowing that the promises in the Word was worth waiting for.
The more we read, there is a feeling of profound respect and admiration for him.
We get a better understanding of what it means to have a heart for God’s Word.
What it means to endure anything that man could bring against us.
Acknowledging that nothing the world brings our way compares to what will happen when we break the law of God.
The Bible is our treasure map.
It is our guide to all the treasures to be found in our lifetime.
Daily we can dig into the Scriptures.
We will find diamonds of promises, rubies of hope, and emeralds of wisdom.
With the greatest treasure being our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Author of it all.
The One who will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 KJV).
We can only imagine all the wonderful things that will happen.
How our lives will be changed.
All because we rejoiced in Him.
Take the time to read the Scriptures.
To meditate and learn what He has in store for your life.
Treasures will always be found in the Word.
