Read: Proverbs 2:1-9
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6 KJV
To study means we have devoted time and attention to obtaining knowledge on an academic or personal interest.
Much of our learning comes from reading books or articles.
We take the time to memorize the facts.
We observe and reflect upon what we read.
We do it in an effort to apply them to our lives.
We all know that “the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6 KJV).
As Christians, we know that Bible study is important.
The Bible contains the promises to all those who seek the wisdom and knowledge of the Father.
But Bible study involves more than just our opening up the book and reading a few verses or chapters.
We all need to really understand what His Words means for our lives.
In one of the devotionals I was reading they made this suggestion.
It may not fit your plan, but it can be used to help you decide the path you desire to take.
There were seven guidelines.
- Set aside a regular time. This way you will not neglect it.
- Before you start to read, as the Father for help and understanding.
- Carefully think about what you are reading. The more we dig, the treasures of the Bible will be revealed.
- Try to understand what the author was saying to the first people who read the book or letter before you decide what it means for you.
- Write down at least one truth or principle you can put into practice
- Try different translations of the Bible. If you find yourself skimming over familiar words, a new translation may focus your mind on the passage in a new way.
- Do not get discouraged. Some parts of the Bible are more interesting than others, and you may not understand them at all. But there will always be some that you do, and they will change your life when you apply them.
The more we seek the knowledge and understanding of the Word, the more we will find the treasures the Bible holds.
A treasure that reveals all the promises to those who seek Him.
There are many to be found.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that it is of significant importance that we desire to gain knowledge. Studying Your Word is best way to do it. There is a treasure to be found as we read each chapter or verse. Let us give thought to each line so we may have a better understanding of what You desire for our lives. May we continue to depend on You and come to You for the guidance that we need. Thank You Father for always being there for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
