Have you wondered what it really means to be a man or a woman of God?
“Man of God” appears seventy-eight (78) times in seventy-two (72) verses of the Bible.
A biblical title of respect given to prophets, religious leaders and even an angel.
There are up to thirteen (13) individuals mentioned throughout the Bible.
Individuals such as Moses (Deuteronomy 33:1 KJV), Elijah (2 Kings 1:11 KJV), Shemaiah (1 Kings 12:22 KJV) and even an Angel of the Lord (Judges 13:8 KJV).
This title was given to those who were representatives of the Almighty.
In today’s passage there was a Shunammite woman that was looking at the Prophet Elisha.
She was with her husband.
“And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually” (2 Kings 4:9 KJV).
She saw him as not only a man of God but also as holy.
One that was also a godly man.
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, also called upon the people to be holy as a reflection of God’s holiness (1 Peter 1:13-16 KJV).
As children of God, we are wanting to show others what it means to do His will.
Walking in holiness and as a man or woman of God is for all of us.
We may not hold a Biblical title.
Not everyone is called to hold one.
But we are all called to be holy men and women of God.
Always walking in a manner that shows we are part of His family.
One who wants to represent the Kingdom and spread the Word of His goodness.
Knowing that to carry the title of being a person of God is worth pursuing.
We all know there is always someone who says you look just like someone they know.
As a child of God, let them be able to say we have a growing likeness to the Son of God.
A likeness that all mankind can have.
To be the one to tell them that the same can be theirs too.
That all they have to do is give their lives to Him.
Trusting and believing in the Word.
We know His Word is true.
It will not change, we do.
Then, and only then, will we know the true meaning of what it means to be a man or woman of God.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we may not hold the title of a Prophet or Evangelist, but we are of You. We want to more like You every day. To have more of Your meekness, humbleness, and love. To have the courage to labor more in the truth of the Word. Thank You for allowing us to the man or woman You have called to do Your will. May others see You in our lives. Seeing, hearing, and receiving the blessings Your Word will bring.
