Read: Proverbs 9:7-12
Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Proverbs 9:8 KJV
We all know that by nature none of us like to be told we have done wrong.
But none of us are perfect.
We all have our moments when they should be brought to our attention.
It is when we have an attitude towards being corrected, we are said to fit the description of the “scorner.”
The person who is speaking to us is not trying to judge or correct us.
They are trying to be of help.
For some, the person who tries to correct is taking the risk of being hated.
On the other hand, if we accept the correction of someone who rebukes us, we are “wise” and we will love them. (Proverbs 9:8 KJV).
There will always be times when we must resist feelings of anger when someone points out our wrong.
Taking the time to keep our emotions under control and listening to what they are saying.
Many times what they are saying can actually be helpful.
Remembering that Proverbs 9:12 KJV has told us, “If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.”
We are to be wise in all our ways, but it will only happen when we listen.
Our fear of the Lord and what He is telling us is the beginning of us obtaining wisdom and knowledge (Proverbs 9:9-10 KJV).
The wise person who receives correction will always reap personal blessings.
Be the one who takes being corrected the right way.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that there will be times when we have to keep a hand on our attitudes. To be willing to accept the words of wisdom being spoken to us. Remembering that they are spoken out of love. Spoken to help us stay on the right path. For all the saints You have placed in our lives. We desire to receive Your Wisdom from above. Give us a mind to receive all that You have for us. Thank You for the love You so freely give us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
