Today’s Reading: Genesis 41:46-57
Today’s Verse: And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art. Genesis 41:39 KJV
There are times in our lives when we feel a powerful desire to help someone in need.
We find ways to serve according to our personalities, abilities, and resources.
There is a story in the Bible about Joseph (Genesis 41 KJV). He was a young Hebrew man, and a servant to the captain of the guard.
In the story the Pharoah has dreams (vv. 1-8 KJV).
He seeks to find out what they mean but has trouble finding someone who can help him. The guards tell the Pharaoh about how Joseph had interpreted their dreams to them, He then sends for Joseph. He has a long discussion with him. During the conversation Joseph, through wisdom from God, interprets Pharoah’s dreams (vv. 9-32 KJV).
Pharaoh took heed to God’s warning and put Joseph in charge of getting his country ready for the seven (7) year famine to come. (v. 39 KJV).
“And [when] the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses” (v. 56 KJV).
Joseph’s faith in God made him a willing vessel who desired to serve. His skills played a key role in helping people survive a seven (7) year famine (vv. 53-54).
With the knowledge Joseph had, he even prepared his house for the tough time to come (vv. 16-18 KJV).
Stories like this one shows the heart of God for the world.
That His desire is to prepare us and make us who we are so we might care for others in whatever way He leads us.
Compassion in any form will always help someone to heal.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, You have given all of us a fair warning about how we should live. Living according to Your Word is the way we learn how to do this. So in times of trouble and need we know what to do. How to be there for each other. So when You place it on hearts what is to be done, we listen and do it. Knowing that anything we do in Your name, no matter how great or how small, is a blessing to someone in need. Your Divine healing in all areas of our lives is what we need. Thank You showing us how to do things in a loving way.
