Today’s Reading: Psalms 40
Today’s Verses: He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Psalms 40:2 KJV
In a dream last night, the car I was in suddenly found itself flying over a large pit in the road. While others were making it over, the one I was in fell into it.
It was kind of muddy and felt like it would be stuck. Unable to get out of it. Thankfully, the car was able to drive out of it.
I know many times our dreams have a purpose. They cause us to think about what we are going through in life. What someone else may be going through.
I began to think about the old hymn, “He Brought Me Out of the Miry Clay.” It was written in the late 1800’s by Henry J. Zalley. The music by Henry L. Gimour.
It talked about how the Lord could take our feet out the miry clay and place them on a solid rock to stay.
Psalms 40:2 is what this hymn is based on. Another song by David.
Like David, we seek to be rescued from a desperate, hopeless situation.
We have a desire to change from being in despair to a state of stability and security.
We find confidence in knowing that God loves and cares about us. That our deliverance will come. A deliverance from hardship and sin.
When we experience the gift of God’s salvation, our feet are placed on a solid rock. A solid foundation.
Every day He wants to lift us up out of the sinking pit of sin and hopelessness.
Making it where we can say: “He brought me out of the miry clay. He set my feet on the Rock to stay. He puts a song in my soul today. As song of praise. Hallelujah.”
Jesus is the Rock. The Rock of our salvation.
Let us recognize this truth.
Singing of His wonderful mercy towards us. Praising Him so all men will see His goodness. Praising Him for the wonderful change in our lives.
Praying that others will hear the truth and trust in God.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that Christ is the Rock on which a poor soul can alone stand fast.
In the Word, You have given us hope. In us there should be a steady, regular walk and conduct becoming to You. Each day may we continue believing, hoping, and praying. Standing on the Lord as our Solid Rock and sure foundation. Singing a song of praise, Hallelujah. Thank You for the wonderful mercies we receive.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
