The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29 KJV
A lamb is considered a symbol of sweetness, innocence, meekness, and gentle nature.
As a spiritual symbol they represent purity and sacrifice.
Jesus is the “Lamb of God”.
He is the “Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
That is what John is telling us.
John was a preacher of repentance.
He told his followers that the pardoning of their sins came through Jesus only.
That God’s glory to pardon would be because of the sacrifice of Jesus.
That the Savior takes away the sin of the world.
With His sacrifice, He purchased the pardon for all that repent.
For those that believe the gospel.
He didn’t have to do it.
This should encourage our faith.
We should “behold the Lamb of God”.
We know that sin is something that keeps us from living and doing things the right way.
It keeps us from living according to the Word.
But because of the perfect sacrifice of the Lord dying on the cross, God will forgive them and take them away.
However, to receive His forgiveness, we must put aside our sinful pride and self-righteousness.
We must submit to the perfect righteousness of the Lamb.
Only Jesus can take away our sins and give us His righteousness.
Let us be like John.
Let us take every opportunity to testify that Jesus is the Lamb.
That He is the One that sacrificed His life for our sins.
The One that has given us the ability to live a sin-free life.
Our only hope for righteousness is in the Lamb, God’s Son.
He made the ultimate sacrifice to show how much He loves and cares for us.
Are you under the Lamb?
A WORD OF PRAYER
Loving Heavenly Father, let us take to heart how much You care for us. To take the time to really understand the sacrifice You made for our sins. Thank You for sending Jesus as the true Lamb of God. The One who has taken away all our sins. Thank You for the gift of salvation.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
