He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13 KJV
We have all sinned in some way, shape or form.
Prayerfully, whatever it was, did not cause anyone else to go astray.
The Lord has told us that it is foolish to indulge in sin and excuse it.
That anyone who covers his sin, will not have any true peace.
We will only find mercy from God when we humbly confess our sins.
A confession that is done with a true heart of repentance and faith.
Joel described, in a poetic way, the blessing God would shower on the Israelites if they returned to Him.
Turned from their sinful ways.
How they would defeat their enemies (Joel 2:20). Their cattle would graze in green pastures (v.22). Their land would yield bountiful harvests (vv.24-26). Most importantly, they would sense the presence of God (v.27).
The same can happen in our lives.
Good things happen when we learn to repent of our sins.
There will be others who are not willing to forgive.
That’s okay.
Despite being overwhelmed with a deep sense of guilt and danger, we can still claim salvation.
The Lord is our great atonement.
He is always ready to cleanse and restore us.
A salvation that comes from the mercy which reigns through righteousness.
A righteousness that leads to eternal life through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It is up to us to receive it.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, give us the courage to confess our sins to You and one to another. Making it possible to receive forgiveness and the freedom You afford us from the weight of guilt we feel. Thank You for letting us bare our sinful hearts to Thee.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
