Who Has The Last Word?

But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Psalms 38:13 KJV

When someone speaks to or treats someone with disrespect it can be insulting.

There is an open dislike shown by the expression and looking down on that person.

They are constantly making fun of them.

It can be hard but, returning insult for insult can only make matters worse.

David is a good example of how we should respond to these situations.

He was sick because of the sins in his life and was in a position to be physically and emotionally wounded.

He had been deserted by his loved ones, relatives and friends.

He knew it was the work of the enemy trying to do him harm.

Our enemies can only do us real harm only when they drive us from God and our duty.

Instead of returning the insults and lashing out at them, David turned a deaf ear to what they were saying about him.

He placed all his hope in the Lord.

Praying that the Lord was not far from him.

A true believer’s trouble will be made useful.

Like David, we will learn to wait for our God, and will not seek relief from the world or ourselves.

The less we notice the unkindness and injuries that are done us. and the more we consult with the Lord, there will be a quieting of our minds.

The Lord will hasten to help those who trust in Him as their salvation.

He has the last word.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, help us to be as wise as David. When we realize our sins and others try to take unfair advantage of us, help us to continue to trust You. Knowing that when we do, You will have the last word. Thank You for being there for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
