The World’s Values Versus God’s Values

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are. 1 Corinthians 1:28 KJV

Society has a way of judging a person based on their status.

Giving the impression that someone is more deserving than another.

That the rich are to be treated better than someone who is poor or less fortunate.

It is a blessing that God does not see it that way.

No matter a person’s status, no matter who we know while here on earth, we all have a place in God’s Kingdom.

He sees us for who we are.

God did not choose philosophers, nor orators, nor statesmen, nor men of wealth, and power, and interest in the world, to publish the gospel of grace and peace.

He best judges what men and what measures serve the purposes of His glory.

He chooses those who will value the knowledge and resources He provides.

Jesus said that the kingdom of God is like a man who gave a banquet and made room for everyone who was willing to come. Not just the movers and the shakers but also the “poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame” (Luke 14:21).

Those who will not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

We all must realize that every person of every rank stands in need of pardoning grace.

As humble Christians, though the world may see us as poor we are not.

This is because we understand the true knowledge of the gospel.

We acknowledge where our help comes from and the fact that no matter what we have, we are blessed.

Thankful that God seeks those who are weak and considered not important, because otherwise we would not have had a chance to obtain His blessings.

The Scripture is what we study.

This is where our knowledge and strength come from.

We are the witnesses to others of what the Word of God means and the blessings He has for each of us.

And even young children have gained such knowledge of Divine truth as to silence and give hope to those who are without faith.

Let us always remember what Paul has said in this passage.

“God chose lowly things of this world and the despised things…so that no one may boast before him” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29 NIV).

He chooses those that will humble themselves and do His Will.

“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. “ (1Corinthians 1:30 NIV).

We could not do anything if it were not for Jesus. He is the only way we are making it.

If we are going to boast, we better be boasting in the LORD. (1 Corinthians 1:31 NIV).

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, as Your servants please help us to value and understand others the way You do. Let us not look at someone status to determine their importance in the Kingdom. We all have a part to play in spreading the Word.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
