The holiday season is here.
Trying to choose gifts for others can be, but not always, somewhat challenging.
With the times being the way they are now, some of us may not have the ability to give like we had in the past.
I was reading an article and felt the following suggestions were the best possible gifts anyone could give, especially in times like they are now.
I hope you agree. They are gifts we all can afford to give.
- The gift of listening. Some of us just need to be able to express how we feel.
- The gift of affection. An appropriate hug, kiss, smile or pat on the back can make someone’s day.
- The gift of laughter. Telling a funny story or joke, reliving past happy moments, can say “I love to laugh and talk with you.”
- The gift of a written note. It means a lot to someone to be able to read and read again, the love, memories and appreciation that is felt.
- The gift of a compliment. Just letting someone know how much they mean to you, makes a world of difference in someone’s life.
In addition to those listed, would be to share or reminisce on the fact that God has given us the greatest gift of all.
The gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Just like we give thanks unto each other for the gifts and well wishes we receive from each other, we should be thanking God all the more.
Words could not describe what it means to receive His gifts.
- The gift of listening. Some of us just need to be able to express how we feel and the Lord is always there.
- The gift of affection. An appropriate hug, kiss, smile or pat on the back can make someone’s day. Our spirit feels them all the time.
- The gift of laughter. Telling a funny story or joke, reliving past happy moments, can say “I love to laugh and talk with you.” He bring these memories to us all the time reminding us of the good times we have had and can continue to have.
- The gift of a written note. It means a lot to someone to be able to read and read again, the love, memories and appreciation that is felt. The Word is our written note of scriptures that remind us of the love of the Lord, how far we have come and where we are going.
- The gift of a compliment. Just letting someone know how much they mean to you, makes a world of difference in someone’s life. The Lord telling us “Well Done”.
- The gift of eternal life. All the gifts above combined, with the addition of the Lord giving His life for us. The Lord didn’t have to do it, but He did, because He loves and cares for us. Receive and believe.
The perfect gift for all of us, eternal life through Jesus Christ.
A WORD OF PRAYER
God, we thank You for the gifts we are receiving from loved ones and friends. Times are hard for some, but we pray that there will be someone who can just share the gifts of affection, laughter, a written note or compliment with them. But most of all sharing the gift that God has bestowed on all of us. The gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We pray that this gift reaches all who will receive it and share it with others they know.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen
