Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 KJV
There are many of us who find it difficult to listen to the news daily.
We know we need to stay up to date on what is happening in the world.
But there is an even greater need for us to be cautious not to let the darker side of the world change us.
Because what we let into our minds determines the shape that our souls will be in.
The wrong way leads to nothing but gloom.
Caution is taken when we meditate on the things that Paul is talking about in Philippians 4:8.
They are some of the most powerful and positive remedies to counteract the gloom that enters our hearts.
With all the things that we do, there must be truth, goodness, and righteousness.
The joy we find in the Word outweighs all the causes of sorrow we see around us.
The peace we find in Christ will keep our hearts and minds.
Keeping us from sinning under trouble.
Keeping us calm and finding the satisfaction that we need.
All the benefits we obtain, and our salvation all come from the free mercy of God.
And the enjoyment in them only comes when our conduct is sincere and holy.
Being careful about what we let hinder our thinking is the best way to praise and honor God, as well as guard our hearts.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know it is easy for us to get frustrated with the things of this world and want to take matters into our own hands. This will lead to more harm than good because we lose our good standing with You. We are to walk in all the ways of virtue and abide therein. Open our eyes so we might see the beauty of Your ways and meditate on them.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
