And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. Deuteronomy 6:8 KJV
Finding ways to remind us of how we need to do things or the things that we need for the day is not uncommon.
We have notes that are hung on the refrigerator, mirror or anywhere we will constantly see them.
With today’s technology, we can even schedule times when a reminder will pop up on our phones or computer.
Even in the Bible, they had ways of reminding themselves of the things they needed to do.
The main thing was regarding their following God’s leading.
Moses was leading the Israelites to the Promised Land, he constantly encouraged them to hold close to God’s commands (vv. 1-2).
He was teaching them how to keep the Word close to their hearts and how important it was to teach them to their children also (vv.6-7).
He even told them to tie verses to their wrists and bind them to their foreheads (v.8), as a constant reminder of what God was telling them.
He didn’t want them to forget about God’s instructions.
He wanted them to live accordingly, honor the Lord and enjoy the many blessings the Lord would give them.
Moses’ teaching holds true to our lives today.
We need to have constant reminders of what the Word means to our lives.
That is why at the top of our list should be the need to take the time to read and meditate on the Word.
When we take the time to do this, we will be blessed with the ability to grown in the knowledge and the grace God has for us.
We will accomplish things in a positive and productive way.
We will also be able to share what we have learned with our children or anyone who is under our care.
There are many ways we can keep God’s Word close to our hearts.
Whether we write the Scriptures down, read them daily, or post them somewhere we see them, we must surround ourselves with the Word.
Determine this day how, when, and where you will meditate on God’s Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, the list we make is of no value if it does not have the reading of the Word on it. Help us to remember that we need to do this daily, no matter the time of day or where we are at. It is what gives us the wisdom and knowledge we need. Not to mention that it tells us about the love You have for us and the love we should show You. Thank You for it all.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
