My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. James 2:1 KJV
Hospitality is the friendly and generous reception of guests, visitors, or strangers.
It matters because it deepens our existing relationships.
It opens a space for new ones to flourish.
It feeds the most basic human need that we all have.
A need to feel loved and to be accepted for who we are.
In the family of Christ, there is no place for prejudice or favoritism.
When we are born again, through our faith in Christ, we are equal in God’s sight.
An equality that should be reflected in the way we treat each other.
Not letting our status or nationality in life be the determining factor.
The Father has told us when we show favoritism, we sin against those He loves and for whom Christ died.
We know He died for us all.
Not a select few.
When we were yet in sin, He accepted and showed us love.
Showing us love and the opportunity for change.
We are to live by His example.
Showing them love and praying that their change will come too.
For those who have already given themselves to Christ and need an encouraging Word.
For those who have not and need to be led to the Lord.
Our profession of faith is in vain if we are not showing love and justice to one another.
The Lord has a place for each of us in the Kingdom.
Be gracious to all and be careful to avoid showing favoritism.
We can do this when we pray and ask the Lord to guide us.
To show us how to handle things each day.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that when we say our faith is in You, we must not respect someone based on their outward appearance or circumstance. Each one of us who knows and loves You, will live by the Word. Welcoming all, no matter their appearance or need, just like You saw our appearance and needs and welcomed us anyway. Thank You Savior.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
