And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8 KJV
Often, we can be looking at a movie or listening to something that truly relates to an event that has happened in our lives.
Someone has done something they knew they shouldn’t have done, and it was written all over their face.
When the matter is being addressed, they close their eyes, hoping that if they couldn’t see you, the conversation would end.
That they would avoid any consequences they were about to face.
Of course, we know that is not what happens.
Not wanting anything to come between us, we still could not accept their action.
We knew what was happening and still needed to talk about it.
We wanted the face-to-face interaction to show how much we love them and were eager to forgive them.
I feel that is how God had felt when Adam and Eve broke His trust in the garden of Eden.
How Adam and Eve realized that they had done wrong and tried to hide their guilt from God (vv. 8,10).
The same holds true in our lives.
We find that we have done something wrong and often want to avoid what may happen because of it.
That is when we try to run from it, hide it, or close our eyes to the truth.
Just like God brought Adam and Eve’s sins to their attention and was willing to forgive them.
He does the same with us.
We have no reason to try to hide anything from Him.
He sees it all.
That is why He offered us forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
He did it because He loves and cares for us.
His desire has always been to provide us with the things we truly need.
It still holds true to this day.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, let us see that our steps determine whether we move upward in You or downward toward the pit of sin. We want to live a life that brings glory in the end. Thank You for seeing us and loving us even when we have done wrong. For the forgiveness You show us every day.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
