The Proud Ruler

Read: Daniel 4:30-37 KJV

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 14:11 KJV

Nothing good comes, when we try to hold ourselves in a higher position.

When we deem ourselves to be better than someone else.

Feeling that we can do whatever we want without any regards of the consequences.

No matter our status, having an offensive attitude of superiority should be avoided.

King Nebuchadnezzar is an example of a ruthless dictator.

One who fell after boldly exalting himself.

In a bold and shameless way he declared that he had built the great city of Babylon.

That he did it by his own power and for the honor of his majesty (Daniel 4:30).

Because of this, God humbled him by driving him into the wilderness.

He was letting him feel the results of his actions.

That he was wrong for trying to take for himself the glory that belonged to God.

Pride and self-conceit are sins that attack even the greatest of men.

In the end, Nebuchadnezzar realized his sins, lifted his eyes to heaven and he blessed the Most High.

The Lord may not send an immediate judgment when we sin, but sooner or later he does.

He gives us the opportunity to change our ways.

It is up to us to want to make the needed changes in our lives.

The door is always open for us to humble ourselves, repent of our sins and call upon His name.

Placing us in a position of greater power.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, may we not be like King Nebuchadnezzar and let our pride bring us to a low point. You have have told us that those that are proud and unbelieving would not be rewarded for their actions. Let us strive to be the one who humbles themselves and be exalted by You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
