Generosity

For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
Deuteronomy 15:11 KJV

All over the world there are people who are living in poverty.

They don’t have what they need to live in a way we consider comfortable or normal.

They lack finances, food, clothing and shelter.

They are in need of a helping hand.

Poverty also comes when we lack the food, clothing and shelter that the Word provides to us all.

In poverty, we do not prosper because we fail to feed on the Word, be clothed in it and find in it the shelter we need.

The Bible speaks of the importance regarding the caring for those who are poor.

We are called to be partakers of His plan to help those in need.

Our instructions are to be “openhanded” toward them (Deuteronomy 5:11).

To be there for one another in a time of need.

As challenging as this can sometimes be, Jesus has told us that a willing heart of generosity, that gives to the poor, will receive a long-lasting treasure in Heaven (Luke 12:33).

It is a blessing to be able to donate our time and services to help in programs that provide food, clothing, shelter, transportation and access to other resources.

It is so rewarding to know that we were able to help someone in their time of need.

To know that someone will be there in our time of need.

The Lord loves a cheerful giver. Let us do it and be blessed.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, help us to have open eyes, hearts and hands to aid those that You show us are in need. Our generosity shows our confidence in Your loving and faithful provisions. Thank You for supplying and being the helping hand we all need.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
