A Fresh Start

Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. Ezra 1:5 KJV

The history of this book is the accomplishment of Jeremiah’s prophecy concerning the return of the Jews out of Babylon.

Upon reading it, we learn, that every good work will meet with opposition from enemies.  We may even be hurt by the misconduct of our friends.

That in the end, God will make His cause to prevail.

We can find confidence in the knowledge that the same God that raised up the spirit of Cyrus, the King of Persia, to proclaim liberty to the Jews and raised up their spirits to take their benefits, is the same God that gives us the knowledge to rise and reap the benefits He has for us.

A new year is upon us.

Let us reflect on the sense of hope the Israelites had when Cyrus released them to return to their homeland in Judah.

This was after seventy years of captivity in Babylon. He even returned of all their treasures.

They were given a fresh start.

We, too, are God’s chosen people.  Given the opportunity for a fresh start. To take back all that was stolen from us, when we were captive in sin.

No matter the long seasons of hardships or the consequences of the sins of our past, when we confess our sins, God forgives us and gives us a fresh start.

Jesus did all this when He came, died on the cross and rose again. He opened the way for us and raised us out of the slavery of sin into the glorious liberty as the children of God.

Our trust and hope in Him should never fail.

Wisdom will change your season!

 A WORD OF PRAYER

Heavenly Father, the bringing back of the Jews from captivity, represents the redemption of sinners by Jesus Christ. The same redemption can be to all who will receive Your Word. A fresh start that will give us all the wisdom and knowledge we need to survive the troubles of this world.  Thank You for all You will do for us this year and years to come.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
