There is no love like a father’s love.
The Spirit of God, our Father, is the Spirit of love.
The Bible tells us about this love in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This provision of the gospel, for the forgiveness of our sins, and the salvation of sinners, along with with God’s glory and justice, shows that God is love.
John is reinforcing this same message of love in this passage. Not that we loved God, but that the Father loved us enough to send His only begotten Son as an atonement for our sins.
Just like John knew Jesus loved him, we have the same assurance.
Jesus loves us, this we know, because the Bible tells us so.
We have the saving love and knowledge of God when we acknowledge His Word and live by it.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there are many things that leave us wondering, but not the love we know You have for us. Thank You for sending Jesus, who sacrificed His life for us showing us even more that You are love. A love that will not let us come short of eternal happiness, unless we go against Your Word. We are thankful for this gift of love.
