Read: Deuteronomy 15:7-18
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother. Deuteronomy 15:7 KJV
There is no doubt we all have our own way of how we think or feel about someone or something.
We all have different sets of emotions, beliefs, and behaviors.
Sometimes it leads to a behavior that shows we do not care about someone else’s opinion.
That we only want to do things our way.
The Lord desires that we understand that our point of view says a lot.
That we need to be careful in our thinking and actions.
That our outlook on many things is not always right.
That there are times when we must have a change in our attitude.
We see this in our reading of Deuteronomy 15:7-8 KJV.
Although it relates to the poor, it really applies to all who feel they have been rejected by society and the church.
Those are the times we need to ask the Lord to help us to show others the same compassion He has shown us.
To show us what we should be doing to help others.
Keeping in mind that our assistance is not based on financial giving.
Volunteering our time is just as valuable.
Speaking a kind word of encouragement may be what is needed.
Giving someone the reassurance that they are not alone.
Remembering the times someone was there for us.
Thanking Him for all the blessings He has given us.
Knowing that we were not always deserving of them.
He has told us that in whatever we do, do it freely.
To do things joyfully from the heart.
He loves it when we cheerfully give (2 Corinthians9:7 KJV).
A proof of our love for the Father is seen in the love we show each other.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, help us to make it our desire to be there for one another. That we are not looking at each other’s status in life. Knowing that You are more concerned with the spiritual man and our ability to serve You. To walk daily in Your way. We all have struggled in some way, but You have always provided. Let us continue to let Your Word reign in our lives. Singing praises unto Your name for all that You are doing for us. Thank You for not looking at our status in life.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
