Read: Romans 4:1-8
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:5 KJV
There are times when we look at something with doubts.
We feel like something has been left out.
The directions are clear.
But because of our doubts we hesitate to try it.
We wait on someone else to try it before we have faith in it.
That was the case with Abraham (Romans 4:1-8 KJV).
Others were watching him.
There was a justification of faith shown through him.
Some years had passed before his call.
There had been times of failure in his obedience and even in his faith.
But yet still, “he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness” (Genesis 15:6 KJV).
He was proof that “faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5 KJV).
For some the plan of salvation seems too easy.
Especially when they are looking at what they have done in life.
We have to remember the Bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).
There is nothing that we must add to God’s plan of salvation.
Abraham was one example for all believers.
He has shown what it means to walk in the obedience of faith.
Showing how the seal of the Holy Spirit is our sanctification.
The inward evidence of our righteousness of faith and making us new creatures.
Salvation is a gift from God.
It is not something earned or won.
It is given to all who trust in the Lord.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, the plan for our salvations is one that is easily followed. It has already been tested and proven to be the way. Help us to remember that faith and righteousness go hand in hand. We cannot have one without the other. Our faith comes from our trust in You and the reading of the Word. Thank You for Your saving grace.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
